Abstract
Background: Maxillofacial trauma is a common emergency. Panfacial fractures are very complex fractures. Treatment still presents many difficulties and challenges for maxillofacial surgeons. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the strategy of panfacial fracture surgery. Restoration of the correct occlusion, combines with relying on the most intact part of the facial bones to reposition and fix fragments together. Method: Prospective study, intervention study without control group on Thirty-eight patients with panfacial fractures were treated in Thai Nguyen General Hospital between January 2023 and August 2023. Results: There were 81.6% of those patients treated with the "Bottom to top" technique and the remaining 18.4% of patients were treated with the "Top to bottom" technique. 92.1% of total participants achieved good treatment result after 6 months of surgery. Conclusion: In panfacial fracture surgeries, the occlusion reconstruction should be achieved first. Treatment sequence “Correct occlusion - stabilized block” in the treatment of panfacial fracture can successfully restore the face.
