Abstract
Background: Uterine fibroids are benign smooth muscle tumors of the uterus. They are the most common type of tumor found in women of reproductive age. Objective: Describe clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients undergoing myomectomy for uterine fibroid. Research method: Retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on all medical records of patients diagnosed with uterine fibroids who underwent laparoscopic or open myomectomy and had postoperative histopathological confirmation of uterine fibroids without any associated malignant disease, at A Hospital, Thai Nguyen, from January 2024 to December 2024. Results: The mean age of the study group was 42.02 ± 6.77 years. Abdominal pain was the most commonly reported symptom, accounting for 67.5% of cases. On ultrasound, a single fibroid was the most common finding 80%. The tumor size ≥ 5cm was observed in 42.5% of cases. Conclusion: The mean age of the study group was 42.02 ± 6.77 years. Abdominal pain was the most commonly reported clinical symptom. A single fibroid on ultrasound accounted for the majority of cases, and tumors smaller than 5 cm in diameter were the most prevalent.
