Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a common disease in patients with all stages of chronic kidney disease. We conducted a cross-sectional study with the goal: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and results of hypertension treatment in a group of patients with stage IIIa-IV CKD who have not yet received outpatient dialysis and have high blood pressure. Department of Nephrology and Urology - Hemodialysis, Thai Nguyen National Central Hospital. Objects: Cross-sectional descriptive study design, including 60 patients with stage IIIa-IV chronic kidney disease who have not received renal replacement therapy at the Department of Nephrology and Urology - Hemodialysis, Thai Nguyen National Central Hospital. Results: The average age of the studied patients was 55.65 ± 11.276 years old and the later stages of CKD, the higher the average age. The proportion of CKD patients with stage IIIa-IV hypertension who have not received artificial kidney replacement therapy and have a history of smoking is 10% and drinking a lot of alcohol is 38%. The average systolic blood pressure of the patients was 143.67 ± 14.427; The average diastolic blood pressure of the patients was 78.35 ± 6.120 and the later the stage of CKD, the more the average maximum blood pressure tended to increase. The average blood urea value was 14.3518 ± 4.04574; The average blood creatinine value was 205.4032 ± 64.05198; The average blood potassium concentration is 4.8213 ± 0.44609. In later stages of CKD, urea, creatinine and potassium plasma concentration levels tend to increase. Among the 60 patients studied, the rate of patients with controlled blood pressure was 31.67% (19 patients). The later the CKD stages are, the lower the blood pressure control rate is (with 75% of CKD stage IIIa patients; 36.37% of CKD stage IIIb patients and 16.67% of CKD patients). Stage IV controls blood pressure and this difference is statistically significant with p < 0.05. Conclusion: The study provides information on general characteristics, clinical and biological indexs and results of hypertension control of patients with stage IIIa-IV chronic kidney disease with hypertension and without renal replacement treatment at the Department of Nephrology and Urology - Hemodialysis, Thai Nguyen National Central Hospital.
