Abstract
Background: Fallopian tube pathology is the leading cause of female infertility, requiring effective intervention to restore natural fertility. Laparoscopy is currently the key solution for accurate diagnosis and optimal management of complex lesions with high success rates. Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of primary infertile patients with tubal occlusion undergoing laparoscopic surgery at Hospital A, Thai Nguyen from June 2024 to May 2025. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 39 patients diagnosed with primary infertility due to bilateral tubal occlusion who underwent laparoscopy at Hospital A, Thai Nguyen between June 2024 and May 2025. Results: The mean age of patients was 31.6 ± 4.3 years, with the 30 - 34 age group being the most common (35.9%). Notable medical histories included uterine interventions such as curettage (23.1%), cesarean section (25.6%), and genital infections (43.6%), primarily caused by Chlamydia and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The duration of infertility at age 5 years accounted for the highest proportion (35.9%). On hysterosalpingography (HSG), distal tubal occlusion was predominant at 83.3%, while 56.4% of cases showed no peritubal adhesions. Conclusion: Patients with tubal factor infertility are mainly in the 30 - 34 age group, with high rates of genital infections and prior uterine interventions, frequently presenting with distal occlusion. The prevalence of infertility lasting over 5 years reflects the complexity of lesions requiring intervention. Early screening for genital tract infections and strict control of uterine curettage procedures are recommended to reduce the risk of tubal occlusion in reproductive-aged women.
